I read in an article last week that with the new controller you can feel the difference between for example walking on grass or on a pavement.
It sounds interesting and I can imagine it can add the overall immersive feeling when playing a game.

I wish I could find a reason to want either one of these machines. I remember having had 5 different systems around my tv and would hook up whichever one I was in the mood for. Now I see new systems and try to find reasons to want them. Two or three games have my attention but still not worth me getting a PS4.

I'd think that with modern consoles being so like computers anymore that there isn't a very good reason why most games couldn't be reasonably backwards compatible if you download them instead of play them from a disk. Other than the fact they developers can milk you for more money of course.

Playstation for sure does this bullshit. It's pretty disappointing. It just comes across greedy.

I'm pretty sure that's a no. If PS4 was BC with PS3 then may----be, but it's not, so we know they are totally different architectures.

Never done that. Still rocking an NES, SNES, PS1 and a PS2 for the older console. Just never got that pesky PS3 which seems to have a decent lineup of games.

I learned my lesson. I used to sell my old consoles and games for almost nothing in credit toward a new console. I always ended up regretting it. I would love to have my old Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, and Nintendo 64 stuff back especially.

If you don't use an older console box it up and keep it in nice shape. There may be a good chance you'll want to play those old games again on the real hardware.

If nothing else the cartridges themselves should be saved since it's possible to buy third party emulation systems nowadays that can run them at least. (At least for the well known common vintage systems) I'll admit that nothing beats the nostalgia of playing them on a vintage console. Some of the old cartridges are both a pain in the ass to get a hold of and expensive if you let them go.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing. I just found these "wired Wild Berry Sours" that come in a tin that looks just like an SNES controller, just about actual size. It was hella expensive just an ounce of candy, but I bought one without hesitation and don't regret it at all.
